Bio

Carolyn Dateo is a seasoned leader for strategists, creatives, marketers, and solopreneurs. With extensive business experience in various US markets and on a global scale, she brings invaluable expertise to her coaching practice. Currently, she coaches strategists and solopreneurs, empowering them in leadership development based on their strengths, goals, and opportunities. A Founding Member of Hudson Valley Women in Business, Carolyn facilitates Mastermind sessions coaching for Executive Presence and in assessing business development and innovation plans at the grassroots level. In her previous roles leading strategy teams, Carolyn has been recognized for making people feel heard and seen, and for helping them grow in their strategic practice, client management, team relationship enhancement, and personal development. She utilizes key tools such as Clifton StrengthsFinder, cognitive biases, neuro-linguistic programming, Myers-Briggs, and HBDI/Whole Brain Thinking. She is an advocate for DEI, and EQ sensitivity and development. Carolyn also has some familiarity with Hogan and Enneagrams from her own executive coaching work. Carolyn has worked with individuals on performance and productivity based on 360 assessments, personal and professional goals, and career direction. She has been effective with multi-national teams in which different cultures come into play. She has been effective in remote roles (most recently serving as Chief Strategy Officer at Luckie & Co. across two offices and 5 geographies) and working with individuals across different workstreams in complex business partner collaboratives.

Her coaching development stems from her mastery of qualitative research and interviewing, as well as facilitating group workshops and discussions. Whether in online platforms, in-person or in ethnographic settings, Carolyn is known for her warm, empathetic style and strong listening skills in understanding people where they are. She has facilitated a range of conversational topics from body pain to baby care & parenting practices, terminal or orphan disease experiences, sexual intimacy and financial planning and investing, as well as general snacking, meal preparation, health and wellbeing.

Carolyn and her husband have raised two daughters, both of whom have benefited from her guidance in interviewing and job search strategies, interpersonal relations and in learning how to provide feedback for creative and problem-solving impact. In her spare time, she mentors under socialized shelter cats resulting in successful foster placement and adoption. Carolyn has been practicing mindfulness and yoga for over 2 decades and appreciates the outdoors through hiking and climate advocacy. Her dedication to community and social impact underscores her active involvement in making a positive impact beyond the boardroom. Rehearsed interviewing scenarios and provided negotiation coaching resulting in a 10% salary increase and broader relocation support, including the provision of an accountant for the duration of expat employment, and provided counsel for terminating current employment in a positive exit.
