What is the difference between Plus and Pro?

Great question. Placement Plus will give you access to our premium content and features across the app. This includes email templates, cover letter templates, premium job search guides on Learn, and all practice app questions.

Placement Pro gives you access to a Career Coach that you work with 1:1 to enable success in your job search. It also unlocks unlimited free tickets to our workshops. The average salary increase for Pro clients is $21,000.

Can I try before I buy?

Yes, we're happy to offer a free trial of Placement Pro. When you sign up for Pro, you'll automatically begin a 7-day free trial.

How long does it take to get hired?

The timeline can vary quite a bit.

If you are early in your career, want to go fast, and targeting roles with many openings, it can be done in 2-3 months. If you want to take your time as a seasoned executive, it could take up to 9-12 months.

We are also happy to continue supporting you as long as it takes. What's more, we're happy to keep working with you on the job to set you up for continued growth and promotions.

Do you have a referral program?

Yes, we do. You can read all about the Placement Referral Program here.

What is Placement's cancellation policy?

You can cancel your membership at any time through the "Membership" setting in your Placement account. Canceled memberships will maintain access through the end of the current billing period.

What is included with Placement Pro?

With Placement Pro, you get personalized, end-to-end support to achieve your goals. That includes:

  • 1:1 dedicated career coaching

  • Two Zoom meetings per month (additional meetings billed separately)

  • Messaging with your coach for the smaller things

  • Resume, LinkedIn, and cover letter reviews

  • Unlimited access to all features and content

No matter where you are in your job search, Placement Pro can help you land a job you love.

How does the free trial work?

You automatically get a 7-day free trial with Placement Pro. At the end of your 7-day free trial, your credit card will be automatically charged.

If you don't want to continue with Placement Pro, you can cancel anytime in the Placement app via your Membership settings.

Your credit card will not be charged if you cancel your subscription before the trial is over.

How does the billing cycle work?

Your Placement Pro membership is a monthly commitment. The subscription starts on the day that you activate your subscription and will renew on that day each month until you cancel.

When you cancel your membership, you will continue to get access to Placement Pro through the end of your current billing cycle. After canceling your membership, we will not bill you again and you will lose access to your Pro benefits at the end of the billing cycle.

Canceling your Placement Pro membership is easy. You can do it anytime from the Placement website.

Can I change my Career Coach?

Yes. We know how important it is for you and your coach to mutually connect, so you aren't locked into your first pick.

If you don't feel like the first Career Coach you meet is the right person to support your process, we are happy to arrange a change. You can change your coach via your Membership settings in the app.

Is it for Me?
Does it matter if I'm currently employed?

Nope. We make it easier to job search regardless of whether you're employed or not.

Can you help me get a remote job?

Yes! We have strong experience helping US-based members land 100% remote jobs. It's easy to use the app to search for remote roles.

Which industries do you support?

The funny thing about job searching is it's 80% the same regardless of what industry you're in. We pride ourselves on being open to all.

That said, we have the most experience with the following sectors: business, technology, financial services, non-profit, healthcare.

Do you support new grads?

Yes! We've helped hundreds of new grads. :)

Do you support executives?

Yes, we do. We have some Career Coaches in particular that have strong experience partnering with executives.

Is it OK if I don’t have a college degree?

Yes! In fact, we're passionate about helping people be successful who don't look perfect on paper.

Is it OK if I don’t have a US work visa?

Yes. We're able to support you in your search. We don't have any specialized support to help with visa situations or visa paperwork, however.

Employers
I’m an employer. Do you charge any fees?

No! We do not charge employers. There are no fees for hiring from our network. No placement fees, no contingency fees, nothing.

We are happy to make friendly referrals any time there's an opportunity.

No, we're not able to guarantee that you'll get a job or an increase in compensation. We can't control whether employers will offer you a job, or how much they pay.

Coaching Packages
What is a career coach and how can they help me?

A career coach is an expert in your corner. Building your career is hard and there are so few voices out there who are truly on your side. When you hire a career coach, you are hiring a partner to help you break through obstacles and achieve your goals.

Your career coach is there to help you reflect, create plans, and hold you accountable for achieving your goals. They will also provide expert advice and feedback in areas you want to improve.

With your coach, you will go further than on your own.

Which package should I choose?

Identifying which package is best for your career search depends on where you want to start and what you've accomplished so far. For early-career seekers and those making sizable career pivots, we recommend our most comprehensive Gold tier package, which will help guide you every step of the way. We recommend our most popular Silver package for more experienced professionals who wish to remain within their career vertical or are making minor pivots and horizontal moves. For passive job seekers who are simply exploring potential options, we recommend the Bronze package, which will get you up and running so that you can continue at your own pace.

What happens in a typical 1:1 session?

No two sessions are exactly the same and will vary based on where you're at in your career journey. You are in full control of your sessions and the topics covered! Sessions are often situational, for example:

  • You aren't getting interviews and you're not sure why. What might the issue be?

  • You have a big interview coming up, how can you best prepare?

  • A company you were excited about didn't extend the offer. How do you stay motivated through hard times?

And many more. If you are not sure how to spend the time, your coach will work with you to figure out the highest priority topics to cover.

How do you match me with a coach?

You will be asked a series of questions to assess your goals, where you feel you need help, and information about your job search. We will use that information to find three coaches who have expertise in working with people like you. Then, you will get to choose the coach that you think is the best fit for you.

How soon will I get to talk to my coach?

Our goal is to get you talking to your coach as soon as possible! After paying for your coaching package, you will find time on your coach's schedule that works for you. Most clients have their first meeting within 3 days.

If you aren't able to find a time with your selected coach, no problem! We will happily help you find a different coach with availability that matches your own.

In the unlikely case that none of our coaches have availability that works for you, you can receive a full refund.

Do I have to turn my camera on during the sessions?

You can choose to keep your camera off if you prefer. You are in full control of the session and your coach wants to make sure you are comfortable.

With that said, many employers will expect you to have your video on during the interview process. If you want feedback on things like body language and eye contact, you will need to turn your camera on for that section.

How does messaging with my coach work?

You will be able to message your coach through the Placement platform. You can ask your coach quick questions through messaging instead of waiting for a 1:1 session. If you ask a question that is better suited for a 1:1 session, your coach will let you know.

In general, you can expect your coach to respond once per day. Coaches are in 1:1 sessions with their clients (like you!) throughout the day and have scheduled times to respond to messages. Many of our coaches schedule time in the morning to respond to messages.

What if I want to upgrade after I already bought a package?

No problem. You can upgrade your package within 14 days of purchase. When you upgrade within 14 days, you will be charged the difference in price between your new package and the previous package.

What if I want more time with my coach?

No problem. After you purchase a coaching package, you can buy additional 1:1 sessions at the following rate:

  • 25 minute 1:1 session: $99

  • 50 minute 1:1 session: $175

Can I just buy a single session?

You can buy extra, individual sessions with your coach after you purchase a package. However, we don't offer the ability to purchase only one session without a package.

What is Placement's refund policy?

You can receive a full refund for your package up before your first scheduled meeting. If you are dissatisfied with your coaching experience after your sessions have begun, please email hello@placement.com and our customer care team will work with you to make it right.

Will you write my resume?

We believe that a strong resume starts with you. Your career coach won't write your resume, but they will connect you with resources to create a compelling resume and provide expert feedback along the way. They can provide guidance on things like formatting, what to include, and how to draft strong bullet points about your experiences.

What if I already have a good resume?

We won't make you change it but there's always room for improvement. Job search deliverables are very subjective and open to a wide variety of opinions. There is no "one size fits all" resume template because no two career paths are the same and every hiring manager is looking for something different. If you're at the point where your deliverables have proven to work in the market and you're getting interviews, we can dive right in with where you're at. Though, even if that's the case, it never hurts to have another set of eyes on it!

What if I don't have a LinkedIn profile?

It's never too late to start! We have guides, articles, and expert advice on how to create and optimize your profile to get the most from your career search. You coach can help you get up to speed.
