How do you match me with a coach?

You will be asked a series of questions to assess your goals, where you feel you need help, and information about your career. We will use that information to match you with coaches who have expertise in working with people like you. Then, you will get to choose the coach that you think is the best fit for you.

We know how important it is for you and your coach to mutually connect, so you aren't locked into your first pick. If you don't feel like the first Career Coach you meet is the right person to support your process, you can meet with as many coaches as it takes.

On Placement, you don't have to pick just one coach. You can work with a whole team.

How soon can I meet with my coach?

During sign-up, you will get to choose a time that works for both you and your coach. In some cases, that could be as soon as today. In most cases, you will be matched with a coach who has availability within the next 1-2 business days.

How much does it cost?

Getting started is easy. Your intro call with your coach is only $19. During that call, your coach will work with you to create an action plan within your budget to help achieve your goals.

No two careers are exactly the same and our pricing model is flexible to fit your journey. The cost depends on how many 1:1 sessions, mock interviews, and asset reviews you need. Most customers spend between $175 and $750 over the course of 1 to 3 months.

What happens during the intro session?

The goal of the intro session is to lay the foundation for an effective coaching relationship. Before the call, your coach will review the materials you submit so they are well-prepared.

During the call, your coach will learn about your situation and goals. Together, you will craft an action plan for how you will work together. Additionally, your coach will answer any questions you have about how coaching works.

Don't sweat it if you don't feel fully prepared. Our coaches are experts at helping you figure out what you need, even if you don't know what that is yet.

Can I give Placement as a gift?

Absolutely! Send us an email at hello@placement.com letting us know the following:

  1. How many coaching credits would you like to give? 

    1. Introduction 25-minute session = $19 (discounted .5 credit)

    2. Add credit packages for steeper discounts

      1. 1 credit = $175

      2. 2 credits = $299 ($150/credit) *most popular

      3. 4 credits = $499 ($125/credit)

      4. 8 credits = $880 ($110/credit)

  2. What is the name and email address of the recipient?

  3. On which date would you like the recipient to receive the gift?

  4. What message should we include and do you want your name included?

Is it for Me?
Does it matter if I'm currently employed?

Nope. We make it easier to job search regardless of whether you're employed or not.

Can you help me get a remote job?

Yes! We have strong experience helping US-based members land 100% remote jobs. It's easy to use the app to search for remote roles.

Which industries do you support?

The funny thing about job searching is it's 80% the same regardless of what industry you're in. We pride ourselves on being open to all.

That said, we have the most experience with the following sectors: business, technology, financial services, non-profit, healthcare.

Do you support new grads?

Yes! We've helped hundreds of new grads. :)

Do you support executives?

Yes, we do. We have some Career Coaches in particular that have strong experience partnering with executives.

Is it OK if I don’t have a college degree?

Yes! In fact, we're passionate about helping people be successful who don't look perfect on paper.

Is it OK if I don’t have a US work visa?

Yes. We're able to support you in your search. We don't have any specialized support to help with visa situations or visa paperwork, however.

How does the credit system work?

We operate on a credit system to give you flexibility. With one simple purchase, you can solve a variety of challenges within your organization. You purchase a pack of coaching credits that your employees can use to book leadership, performance, life, or outplacement coaching sessions. You have the flexibility to decide what type of coaching is available and to which employees. We offer volume pricing, so you save when you invest more in your employee development.

A standard 50-minute session costs 1 credit. However, coaches are able to set their own rate so sessions with some coaches cost more credits. Our team can work with you to decide how many credits might be best for your organization.

How many credits does each employee need?

Coaching is not one-size-fits-all. Folks need different levels of support based both on their seniority and the specific challenges they face. However, we can provide a rough sketch of a few different journeys.

  • Senior leaders often meet with their coach 2 times per month for 50 minutes. Leadership coaches can cost between 3-5 credits per session, depending on the coach.

  • Brand new managers often meet with their coach weekly for 25 minutes. Coaches specializing in new managers cost between 1-3 credits per session.

  • Superstar individual contributors often meet with their coach monthly for 50 minutes. Performance coaches cost between 1-2 credits per session.

What control do I have over employee use?

Our goal is to provide your team with seamless tools that make it easy to manage your credits. You have the power to control:

  • How many credits each employee can use within a designated time frame

  • Which session types they are able to book

  • Which coaches are available to your organization

  • Which coaching specialties (Leadership, Life, Performance, Job Search) are available to your organization and to which employees

What happens if I need more credits?

If your employees use all of the credits in your account, we will send you a notification to purchase more. You can buy as many or as few as you need!

Enterprise clients will have a dedicated customer success manager to maximize value.

I thought Placement was for job searching?

Placement was originally founded to help individuals level up their careers by finding new jobs. However, many clients came to us asking for help growing within their existing organizations. Our coaches were thrilled to oblige – they have tremendous depth of experience as HR leaders, executives, performance coaches and life coaches.

We still assist individuals on their job search, but we also help with so much more than that. And when working with businesses, most of our work focuses on leadership and performance coaching unless there is a specific need for outplacement services.

To reduce any potential conflict, we offer the ability to turn off the job search features within your corporate Placement account.

Reviews
What is the review process?

Getting your assets reviewed is simple and fast:

  1. Book your review. Using the Placement website, choose your review type and checkout.

  2. Provide information. Your coach needs a few pieces of information to provide a great review.

  3. Your coach reviews your materials. Sit back and relax, within 48 hours your coach will review your materials and send them back to you. You get both a marked-up document and a video made by your coach.

  4. Integrate the feedback. You have the opportunity to make the changes the coach suggested and send it back.

  5. Get your final check. Your coach will check your updates so you can rest easy knowing you're good to go.

How much does it cost?

The price per review depends on how many you purchase. You have the opportunity to bundle and save. The prices are as follows:

  • 1 Review: $99

  • 2 Reviews: $175 ($87.50 each)

  • 3 Reviews: $225 ($75 each)

What is Placement's cancelation policy?

Reviews can be canceled before the assigned coach begins the review or if we are unable to complete it for any reason. You will be refunded the coaching credits that were used to book the review.

Please contact the Placement support team if you have a question or concern about your review.

What is the final check?

When your coach conducts their review, they will provide in-depth feedback. Depending on the type of review you book, that may be via a Google Doc, PDF, message, or recorded video.

After you receive the review and incorporate the feedback, you can re-submit for the "final check". During the final check, your coach will answer any small, outstanding questions and verify that you incorporated the feedback.

The final check is optional. In order to receive a final check, you must submit your documents for review within 2 business days. After 2 business days, the review will automatically be marked as completed.

Gift codes
Which services can I use my gift code with?

Your gift code contains a certain amount of credits that can be redeemed for any Placement service. Placement offers a variety of coaching services including 1:1 sessions, mock interviews, negotiation assistance, job search strategy, resume reviews, LinkedIn reviews and more. Input your name, email and promo code above to get started today.

When does my gift code expire?

Gift code expiration dates vary depending on Placement’s partner or affiliate. Be sure to redeem your gift code asap to secure your credits. Credits never expire. Once your gift code is redeemed, the credits can be found on your Placement dashboard

Can I also use a promo code?

Absolutely! Promo codes can be redeemed at checkout for additional credit purchases. To purchase more credits, head to your checkout page and input the promo code in the order summary section. The more credits you purchase, the greater the discount and investment in your career.

How do I become a Placement partner or affiliate?

First Session
Can I change my Career Coach?

Yes. We know how important it is for you and your coach to mutually connect, so you aren't locked into your first pick.

If you don't feel like the first Career Coach you meet is the right person to support your process, we are happy to arrange a change.

What happens during the first session?

There are three goals for your first session:

  1. You and your coach will get to know each other

  2. Your coach will learn where you're at in your journey

  3. Together, you'll craft an action plan to help you reach your goals

After paying for your session, you'll be given the option to send additional information to your coach ahead of your meeting to make the best use of your time.

What is Placement's rescheduling and cancelation policy?

Session credits will be fully and automatically refunded for any meeting canceled or rescheduled more than 6 hours before the meeting start time. Meetings canceled or rescheduled within 6 hours of the meeting start time are not automatically refunded.

Please contact the Placement support team if you have a question or concern about a canceled or rescheduled meeting. We are happy to assist you!

Do I have to turn my camera on during my sessions?

You can choose to keep your camera off if you prefer. You are in full control of the session and your coach wants to make sure you are comfortable.

With that said, many employers will expect you to have your video on during the interview process. If you want feedback on things like body language and eye contact, you will need to turn your camera on for that section.

Coaching Sessions
What happens in a typical 1:1 session?

No two sessions are exactly the same and will vary based on where you're at in your career journey. You are in full control of your sessions and the topics covered! Sessions are often situational, for example:

  • You aren't getting interviews and you're not sure why. What might the issue be?

  • You have a big interview coming up, how can you best prepare?

  • A company you were excited about didn't extend the offer. How do you stay motivated through hard times?

And many more. If you are not sure how to spend the time, your coach will work with you to figure out the highest priority topics to cover.

What is Placement's rescheduling and cancelation policy?

Session credits will be fully and automatically refunded for any meeting canceled or rescheduled more than 6 hours before the meeting start time. Meetings canceled or rescheduled within 6 hours of the meeting start time are not automatically refunded.

Coaching Packages
What is a career coach and how can they help me?

A career coach is an expert in your corner. Building your career is hard and there are so few voices out there who are truly on your side. When you hire a career coach, you are hiring a partner to help you break through obstacles and achieve your goals.

Your career coach is there to help you reflect, create plans, and hold you accountable for achieving your goals. They will also provide expert advice and feedback in areas you want to improve.

With your coach, you will go further than on your own.

What happens in a typical 1:1 session?

How does messaging with my coach work?

You will be able to message your coach through the Placement platform. You can ask your coach quick questions through messaging instead of waiting for a 1:1 session. If you ask a question that is better suited for a 1:1 session, your coach will let you know.

In general, you can expect your coach to respond once per day. Coaches are in 1:1 sessions with their clients (like you!) throughout the day and have scheduled times to respond to messages. Many of our coaches schedule time in the morning to respond to messages.

What is Placement's refund policy?

You can receive a full refund for your package up before your first scheduled meeting. If you are dissatisfied with your coaching experience after your sessions have begun, please email hello@placement.com and our customer care team will work with you to make it right.

Will you write my resume?

We believe that a strong resume starts with you. Your career coach won't write your resume, but they will connect you with resources to create a compelling resume and provide expert feedback along the way. They can provide guidance on things like formatting, what to include, and how to draft strong bullet points about your experiences.

What if I already have a good resume?

We won't make you change it but there's always room for improvement. Job search deliverables are very subjective and open to a wide variety of opinions. There is no "one size fits all" resume template because no two career paths are the same and every hiring manager is looking for something different. If you're at the point where your deliverables have proven to work in the market and you're getting interviews, we can dive right in with where you're at. Though, even if that's the case, it never hurts to have another set of eyes on it!

What if I don't have a LinkedIn profile?

It's never too late to start! We have guides, articles, and expert advice on how to create and optimize your profile to get the most from your career search. You coach can help you get up to speed.
